Hi everyone, I'm looking for recommendations for 8 seater minibus hire options in my area. I need it for a family trip next month and would prefer self-drive options if possible. We're planning to travel from London to the Lake District for a week-long holiday, and there will be 7 of us plus luggage. I've never hired a minibus before, so I'm not sure what to expect. Has anyone had good experiences with local companies? What's the typical price range I should expect? And are there any specific things I should look out for when booking? Thanks in advance for any advice!

I recently hired an 8-seater from a company in Manchester. The rates were around £80-100 per day depending on the season. Make sure to book well in advance as they tend to get booked up quickly, especially during school holidays. For a week-long trip, you might be able to negotiate a better rate. Also, check if they have unlimited mileage options as that can save you money for longer trips.

If you're looking for self-drive options, check if your regular car insurance covers minibus hire or if you need additional coverage. Some companies offer their own insurance packages, but they can be quite expensive. Also, make sure to inspect the vehicle thoroughly before driving off! Take photos of any existing damage so you don't get charged for it later. For the Lake District trip, I'd recommend getting a diesel model as they tend to be more fuel-efficient for longer journeys.

I've used several companies for 8-seater hire in the Birmingham area. Prices typically range from £70-120 per day depending on the model and features. Some companies offer discounts for longer rentals, so it's worth asking if you need it for multiple days. For a week-long trip, you might get up to 20% off the daily rate. Also, check the luggage capacity - some 8-seaters have limited boot space when all seats are in use, which could be an issue for a week-long trip with 7 people.
